After The Storm We just turned the corner , like the turn of a page The river was rising and my flag was blue I tore up the letter I was writing to you My conscience is pricking me like a thorn Things settle down after the storm I didn’t get no warning , and nobody said My senses were dulled, seemed I was living in my head I put summer behind me like a dream when you wake No point in retracing some foolish mistake My breath is shorter now and my feet are worn Things settle down after the storm I’m not discouraged, not sad or blue I wish I were back in the woods walking with you Nature is dying the trees fall down The harvest is in and the fields turn brown Nothing changes - nothing does since you’re born Things seem the same after the storm Heaven has no answers, and I dare not ask Why love comes calling, why I couldn’t stick to the task The stars may be brighter once you are miles from town The road could be rocky from this point on I see my destination I can’t make out its form My plate is empty after the storm Things settle down after the storm Things settle down after the storm

The Days 03:40
The Days Rain’s tap , tap-tapping through the old barn roof  Should have fixed it long ago when the sun was shining through Everything has stopped no contrails cross the sky The shadows deepen slowly - as the days go by The soil warms up slowly whilst the world is fast asleep Primroses bloom on the bank; can you hear the last lamb’s bleat? It’s silent at the crossroads , and a tear comes to my eye The shadows lengthen everywhere as these days go by I’ve got to be strong, got to be brave, got to get a message to you You’ve got to strive for something when there’s nothing you can do There’s a lonely figure on the road that I think I recognise Every day seems just the same beneath these cobalt skies If I had a boat I’d row it, if I had wings I’d fly  The shadows darken the valley as these days go by

The ones that got away Over the fields we ploughed and scattered The flocks are back in their folds Deep in the heart of merry old England I took the best I hold I can’t help but look back now, now it’s the end of the day Seems my mind still turns back to the ones - the ones that got away When you’re young and lean and hopeful The green buds swell on the thorn Times like these make me grateful for the day that I was born I watch white clouds of blossom float over fields of May Like snow scattered in the breeze like the ones, the ones that got away So it’s up the ghylls and down the dales, over the hills and far away Roll me down gently along the lanes, like the ones that got away Moving to the ridge with the sun on the rocks I climb that steep mountain ledge My sense reel with the skirl of the water crashing over the edge I wanted so much to hold it, for that moment to stay But you gotta get down to the other side like the ones, the ones that got away So it’s up the ghylls and down the dales, over the hills and far away Roll me down gently along the lanes, like the ones that got away

Holding a Rose If I looked myself squarely eye to eye, I know I’m at fault I can’t go far, this road has come to a halt If there was something I could do or say to lessen the blows I’m whistling that showtime tune - tonight I’m holding a rose The city has gone quiet and the highway’s an empty track Might turn you to a pillar of salt if you were to look back Andromeda’s tied to those rocks at this day’s close I’m feeling out and I’m reaching out, I’m holding a rose The radio signal is static, and my coffee has gone cold I hate to admit it here but yes I’m feeling old What on earth are we to do, what do you suppose I’m looking at the crystal vase which is - holding a rose I know I’m going somewhere soon but it’s much, much too late It beggars belief that you might pierce this breastplate You’ve got your lance and your spear, but I’ve got my arrows and bows I’m feeling out off sorts right now, holding a rose Holding a rose - that’s the way it goes I’m walking on that lonely street, that you all know I’m rowing my boat up stream always against the flow And I’m shattered like a crystal vase - holding a rose I climbed up slowly to the place where the bargain was agreed I couldn’t stand the heat and I fell down on my knees Smoke billowed everywhere, clinging to my face and clothes The mountain top is clouded but I’m - holding a rose I’ll work it out like Sherlock Holmes when I get there Running down empty Baker street, I know it wouldn’t be fair Now as I wander your little lane I hear a murder of crows I listen to their chatter as I’m - holding a rose F I’m whistling that showtime tune - tonight I’m holding a rose

The Old Campaign Our Greyhound led to nowhere , we clean ran out of track By the pine trees next to the field , there could be no turning back My feet were heavy with the clay, in the blood of the old campaign And if we never make contact , please look this way again Precious is the memory, it’s time to put the jewels away If you thought I said I loved you, well what more can I say I’ll hide my heart behind my face, until I look just the same And if we never make contact - there’s no need to explain The hares are on the hillside, and the soldiers are back in base That old campaign is over , I return to a state of grace If God is watching over, and he’ll take away my pains Or if we ever make contact , or see each other again God knows I’m full of bravado and plenty of conceit I’m ready for my Oscar if you’ll just take a seat I’m sorry, I look nothing like that picture in the frame And if we never make contact, you know it was only a game

I'll Be Home 04:05
I’ll be home I’ll be home by evening, don’t you worry at all I’ll be home by evening , I’ll make it through the snow fall You be there to meet me, fire roaring in the hearth My heart is beating loudly , as I’m trudging up the path I’ll be there by moonrise , I promised not to delay I’ll be there by moonrise, I told you I was on the way Please stay up to meet me, keep a lamp burning too I’m out of breath still walking, what more can I do ? I’ll be later than expected , but I’m nearly home I’ll be later than expected, didn’t mean to go off and roam Although you may be sleeping, and dawn is almost here I’m lost in the snowy forest, something tells me that I’m near I’ll be home by morning, I’m sorry I am so late I’ll be home by morning, I’m almost at your gate I look high and low to find you , no embers in the hearth The house is cold and empty, I’m sorry I missed the path I’ll be home by evening I’ll be there by moonrise I’ll be home by morning I’ll be home by morning

No Wonder 04:19
No Wonder No wonder if I don’t understand No wonder if I’ll change my plans I gather my things see what the day brings I tighten the strings and see how the mood swings No wonder below or high beyond No wonder you are out and are gone I know there’s no fool like an old fool , I’ve never learnt the rules -, I am old school No wonder you are flying free No wonder, don’t wonder about me No wonder, I’m going home No wonder it’s what I know No wonder I’m used to being alone No wonder if you throw this old dog a bone You know the saying, no pleasure with out pain And just the same, no loss without gain No wonder - you are flying free No wonder, don’t wonder about me No wonder on earth, or up in paradise No wonder at the cost, no wonder at the price No wonder at the speed of the rising tides No wonder that the water is deep and so wide No wonder, no wonder , no wonder No wonder, no wonder , no wonder

Two Worlds 06:51
Two Worlds I walk down the road where butterflies fall Where the soft rains patter and the pines stand tall If I ever learn to brush the dust from my feet Then maybe you can join me where two worlds meet The birds of the evening are singing in the trees Perhaps they’re singing for you and me Wish I could raise myself up and be complete I maybe think I can where two worlds meet You’re moving too fast and I have to take a breath I’ll figure this game out with all I have left My blood is pumping. my knees are trembling and weak I’ll somehow get to you where two worlds meet My feet are caught in some cunning snare I’d move on now but I’m gripped by your hair You can see that I’m lowering my head ready to sleep So come on hold me once more where two worlds meet So blood is blood and bone is bone I’m not asking for much or to be left alone I’m just so tired of chasing the ghost of your speech I daren’t say more where two worlds meet Stars are falling and the seas are enraged Leviathan is loose , he’s torn down his cage I watched as the admiral turned his cannons on the fleet I’m sailing adrift where two worlds meet You’re bold as brass , I’m hard as nails I watch the lake, see distant sails You know how to steal success from my defeat I wave a white flag where our two worlds meet We have so little time and a pinch of salt Water and wine , was it my fault Even if all I do is brush the tears from your cheek That will be enough for me where two worlds meet The ransom was paid late in the day I’d answer your call if you’d get up and play The chances are slim that I fall on my feet I climb up the wall where two worlds meet The pleasure’s all mine just to gaze at the door Seems like I’ve been out here sometime before It’s a struggle pinning you down but yet your smile is so sweet I can’t help but respond where two worlds meet Trails of dust on a long road to here I spied you from afar as your shadow came near Nothing seems fixed and the sun wants for heat Pull me from the edge where two worlds meet Your silence is killing me degree by degree My eyes once saw clear but now I can’t see You may be aiming high, but I’ve got clay feet The tower fell and is crushed where two worlds meet

In the Time of Snow In the time of snow,a silent world stops still No hero to save the day, nothing cuts the spirit’s will I noticed the shadow cross from the forest’s fringe In the time of snow, in the time of snow, a door swings loose in the wind In the time of snow, no footprints damp and grey No cavalry over that hill, Custer won’t save the day I swear we must hold fast, beneath the icy tree In the time of snow, in the time of snow, I’m snowblind yet I see In the time of snow, I’m home again once more It’s so silent now, ever since I quit the war I called into the sky, no answer ever came In the time of snow, in the time of snow, the quiet will always reign In the time of snow, nothing will be the same Looking into the glass, well beyond the gilded frame Gold diggers and forest tracks that lead nowhere In the time of snow, in the time of snow, In the time of snow, I got tangled in her hair
